Up The Creek – the Ultimate Outdoor Music Celebration


Loyal Creekers, New Creekers and everyone in between. Up the Creek is making it’s return from 8-11 February 2024! It will be our frst reunion back at the river since 2020.

Established in 1990, Up the Creek is the second longest-running outdoor music festival in South Africa. Set annually on the banks of the magical Breede River, about 23km outside Swellendam in the Western Cape. 

Grab your festie besties and enjoy four days of great music, good food, chilled vibes, short queues, and a whole lot of gees.

As soon as we’re ready, we’ll start announcing artists for the 2024 festival, watch this space.

So where is Up The Creek exactly?

Up The Creek is hosted at it’s namesake, a long standing river camp, about 23 kilometres outside of South Africa’s fourth oldest town, Swellendam. Perched on the banks of the Breede River overlooking a tranquil creek, this fantastic location is surrounded by the majestic mountain ranges of the Overberg district – less than a 3-hour drive from Cape Town or George in the Western Cape.

Are you a camper or a glamper?

You’ll be stoked to know that Up The Creek caters for both! 

Choose to camp yourself and literally pitch your own tent, or book in at one the Heartbreak Motel’s options!

We have four general campsite options, but you need to decide whether you want to camp with your car or not:

  1.  Camp with car/campervan: Hillbilly Campsite – make sure you purchase a Hillybilly ticket option, there is an extra charge to camp with your car.
  2. Camp without car: Hilton, Ellis Park and Country Club. Access to all three areas is included in your general festival ticket.

Prefer to camp like a rock star? Then go for the more luxurious Heartbreak Motel at an additional cost.
